I think the majority of people are skeptical about starting anything related to affiliate marketing. One main reason being that there are a lot of scams out there and you often hear about people falling for these scams and losing money. There are some programs that promise overnight success. The program may claim that creating an online business is “easy money” and you can “make $10,000 a month” if you join their program. Then you sign up for their initial membership you really don’t get much of anything, but they’ve hooked you in… now just invest more for the elite training and the money will start rolling in. The promise of instant success never happens, but they’ve made their money, so what do they care. Scary, isn’t it?
Wealthy Affiliate offers so much more. The free starter membership gets you access to the initial training and community. The community is made up of entrepreneurs, web developers, and people willing to help you succeed. As I quickly found, the free membership provides invaluable training to understanding websites, google, building traffic, and what makes a business successful.
I believe what sets Wealthy Affiliate apart from others is the community. You are instantly connected with people from around the world that are willing to help with any question you have. I’ve noticed that people quickly develop on-line friendships and never ending support and encouragement.
Additionally, the owners (Kyle and Carson) never make a promise that building a legitimate business is easy. It really does take hard work, time, and hustle to make it happen. However, WA is a community that is built on give and receive, so in order to receive feedback and comments on your website, you need to give them to others in return. It’s a model that builds engagement – in the WA community and more importantly, on your website. This is probably the most valuable part of Wealthy Affiliate for most people.
Business Tip: Don’t expect to receive if you aren’t willing to give.
What Is Wealthy Affiliate?
Wealthy Affiliate is an online training center for building a website, understanding internet marketing, and starting a blog (like The Wise Squirrel). In this review, everything I discuss, unless stated otherwise, can be accessed in the free membership.
The program is perfect for someone with no experience in creating a website or setting up a blog, and it’s a community for anyone that wants to start an online business or is having trouble getting started. Additionally, established online businesses or marketers may want to improve their skills or increase their online interaction and traffic.
How Can You Benefit From Wealthy Affiliate?
Wealthy Affiliate provides a community of diverse, helpful, positive individuals that help you gain momentum as you build your online business and/or blog. If you are a beginner and want to start your own website or blog, then Wealthy Affiliate is a great community for you to join. You will highly benefit from getting even basic questions answered by experience bloggers and marketers in the community.
“We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.” ~Winston Churchill
If you already have a blog or website, Wealthy Affiliate can help you take your site to the next level. Do you want to increase traffic? Or start monetizing through affiliate marketing or ads? Wealthy Affiliate offers advanced training on topics from improving your posts utilizing wordpress and images, to improving SEO, traffic and social media to accelerate your website. Also, just like beginners, you can interact within the community and get feedback on your website and content, including having community members comment on your posts and pages. When you have others look at your site and give you ideas to improve, it can quickly provide benefits to your site.
Comments on your posts can benefit your site in many ways. It gives credibility, it adds more content, it also helps rank in Google. WA allows you to exchange comments with other website owners. A great way to get comments (and traffic) started on your website!
So, what are the negatives? For some people the cost may be a negative. However, if you sign up for an annual membership at $359 per year, the cost is less than $1/day. Hosting services for one website can run you around $200 per year alone, and Wealthy Affiliate will provide extra services, such as site back-up, support, and protection at no additional cost. The benefits that you receive in return, especially from the community, completely outweigh the cost for me, so ultimately, I don’t see any negative aspects to this program. (It also says a lot about the program when so many members have been a part of the community for several years.)
